Columbus Catholic boys basketball whips Nekoosa in third-place game at Cranberry Classic

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – After a slow start in its season-opener, the Marshfield Columbus Catholic boys basketball team had its offense rolling on Saturday.

The Dons put up 51 points in the first half on their way to a 76-51 victory over Nekoosa in the third-place game of the Cranberry Classic on Saturday night at Assumption High School.

Columbus Catholic (1-1) built a 51-26 lead by halftime on its way to the victory.

Nick Malovrh had 21 points and Noah Taylor added 12 for the Dons, who had 10 different players score in the win.

Columbus Catholic opens its Cloverbelt Conference East Division schedule Tuesday at Colby and will play its home opener Friday against Spencer.
