Spencer racks up 11 titles at 2018 Cloverbelt Conference East Division Track & Field Meet

COLBY – Spencer won 11 conference titles at the 2018 Cloverbelt Conference East Division Track & Field Meet on Tuesday at Colby High School.

Both the Spencer boys and girls teams finished third at the eight-team meet.

Loyal won the boys title with 200 points as the Greyounds won six individual events and three relays. Neillsville was second with 119.5 points, with Spencer third with 112. Columbus Catholic was eighth with 28 points.

Neillsville was the girls team champion with 161.5 points, with Colby second (148), Spencer third (94) and Columbus Catholic eighth (29).

Aaron Pankratz won two individual events and helped a relay team also earn a conference title for Spencer.

Pankratz won the 200 meters in 22.97 seconds and the 400 in 50.49 seconds, and teamed with Mason Barth, Collin Nieman and Adam Walter to win the 1,600 relay in 3:41.43.

Logan Zschernitz took first in both the shot put (51 feet, 1¾ inches) and the discus (163-7), Barth won the long jump (18-3¾), and Nieman was the champion in the boys 800 (2:02.48) for the Rockets.

On the girls side, Hannah Zastrow won the 110-meter hurdles in 16.25 seconds, and was part of the 400-meter relay team, along with Dalaney Eichman, Kaily Northup and Sydney Johnson, that won in 52.84 seconds. Zastrow also finished second in the high jump (5-0) and third in the pole vault (8-6).

The 800 relay team of Johnson, Eichman, Faith Miller and Sabrina Vircks won in 1:56.89, and Vircks won the high jump (5-0) for the Rockets.

Eichman also took second in the pole vault (9-0) and Northup was third in the 300 hurdles (51.91) for Spencer.

Columbus Catholic’s top finish came from Joshua Guyer in the boys 3,200 (11:02.22.). Jeremiah Giles was third in the boys triple jump (36-3½), Jessica Jakopin took third in the girls shot put (33-11), and Emmalee Jicinsky was third in the girls high jump (4-8) for the Dons.

Noah Eckelberg won the boys wheelchair events in the 100, 400, 800 and shot put as the lone competitor.

Both Spencer and Marshfield Columbus Catholic will compete in the WIAA Division 3 regional on Monday at Wausau Newman Catholic.
