Marshfield boys hockey edges Black River Falls to win Tomah Tournament title

TOMAH – The Marshfield boys hockey team are Tomah Thanksgiving Tournament champions after holding off Black River Falls 2-1 on Saturday at the Tomah Ice Center.

Payton Smith scored a goal at the 7:43 mark of the first period and added another with 3:37 to go in the second to give Marshfield a 2-0 lead.

Black River Falls responded with a goal in the final minute of the second period, but Marshfield was able to hold them scoreless the rest of the way to preserve the win.

Cole Halvorson had 24 saves in goal for Marshfield, which improves to 3-0 this season.

Marshfield returns to action Tuesday at Waupaca.
