Marshfield boys hockey battles to tie at Antigo

ANTIGO – The Marshfield boys hockey team battled to a 2-2 tie with Antigo in a nonconference game Thursday at MPB Ice Arena.

Tony Kanda scored 2:28 into the first period to give Antigo a quick lead, only to see Marshfield’s Sawyer Schindler tie the game 31 seconds later.

Payton Smith put the Tigers on top early in the second period before Antigo’s Calvin Jansen scored with 5:10 left to tie the game again.

Neither team scored in the third period or in overtime as the game ended in a tie.

Marshfield is now 6-3-1 overall and will play at the Culvers Cup at the Madison Ice Arena on Dec. 28-30. The Tigers play Madison West in the opening game at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday.
