Marshfield wins two individual titles, takes team crown at Bi-State Wrestling Classic

LA CROSSE – Marshfield had eight place finishers and two champions as it took the Division 1 title at the Bi-State Wrestling Classic at the La Crosse Center on Wednesday and Thursday.

Hoyt Blaskowski won the 138-pound title with a pin in the championship match, and Ryan Dolezal took the 160-pound title with a win by injury default over Stratford’s Elijah Lucio in the title match. Blaskowski is now 20-2 and Dolezal 15-2 this season.

Marshfield finished with a tournament-best 292.5 points to take the D-1 title.

Spencer/Columbus, behind a title from 120-pound senior Treyton Ackman, was 20th in the Division 2 standings with 48.5 points. Luxemburg-Casco won the D-2 team title.

Ackman earned a 6-1 win over Jack Krier of Zumbrota-Mazeppa (Minn.) in the 120-pound championship, improving to 18-0 this season.

La Crosse Aquinas won the Division 3 team title with 247.5 points. Stratford was third with 175, Auburndale took ninth with 83 and Athens was 20th with 10.

Marshfield senior Camren Dennee suffered his first loss of the season in the 170-pound semifinals, but came back with a victory to finish third and is now 22-1 this season.

Other place finishers for Marshfield were: Keagan Cliver (fourth at 132), Brett Franklin (fourth at 145), Cody Weix (seventh at 195), Caleb Dennee (ninth at 120), and Adrian Krueger (11th at 285).

In addition to Smart, Stratford had three others finish in the top 12. Gavin Drexler had to medical forfeit and finished sixth at 145, Jackson Ormond was ninth at 182 and Dillon Kirsch took 12th at 152.

Auburndale had three place finishers as Colton Weiler was sixth at 113, Sloan Welch was sixth at 182, and Derek Godard was 11th at 106.
