Columbus Catholic finishes undefeated to win Auburndale Volleyball Invitational

AUBURNDALE – Marshfield Columbus Catholic went a perfect 5-0 to win the championship at the Auburndale Volleyball Invitational on Saturday at Auburndale High School.

Columbus Catholic defeated Nekoosa 25-19, 25-16; Mosinee 25-8, 21-25, 16-14; Stevens Point Pacelli 25-17, 20-25, 15-6; Auburndale 25-14, 25-17; and Stratford 23-25, 25-18, 16-14, to finish the day undefeated.

Courtney Sommer had 44 kills, 15 digs, five service aces and 55 assists, and Lily Stratman had 60 assists and 17 digs to lead the way for the Dons.

Jenna Kibbel added 31 kills, 14 aces and 46 digs, Izzy Hoglund had a team-best 70 digs, Aaliyah Krenn had 24 kills, Mattea Schlafke chipped in 21 digs and six aces, and Gracie Wilczek had 39 digs as well for Columbus.

Stratford finished 3-2. In addition to the loss to Columbus Catholic, the Tigers defeated Spencer 25-20, 25-21; Iola-Scandinavia 25-21, 25-18; and Prentice 25-19, 25-21; and lost to Wisconsin Rapids Assumption 25-16, 25-15.

Kalyn Schueller had 26 kills, Tessa Berg had 18 kills and 10 digs, Ava Weix had 12 digs, Emerson Roy had 13 assists, and Sonia Peterson had 12 assists and four aces for Stratford.

Auburndale also finished 3-2. The Eagles defeated Nekoosa 25-22, 25-16; Mosinee 25-18, 25-15; and Pacelli 25-22, 25-12; and lost to Prentice 25-19, 20-25, 15-13 as well as Columbus.

Josie Ertl had 40 kills, Maggie Baltus had 46 digs, Bri Weiler added 34 digs, and Ashlyn Grimm had 75 assists for Auburndale.
