Superior overcomes halftime deficit to send Marshfield girls basketball to first loss

MARSHFIELD – Superior overcame a six-point halftime deficit to send the Marshfield girls basketball team to its first loss of the season, defeating the Tigers 56-50 in the championship game of the Marshfield Girls Basketball Holiday Tournament on Thursday afternoon at Marshfield High School.

Marshfield led 32-26 at halftime before the Spartans stormed back, holding the Tigers to just 18 points in the second half to earn the victory.

Superior was 10 of 22 from 3-point range with five different players hitting from deep. Kloe Zentowksi had 16 points and Emma Raye added 13 for the Spartans (9-1).

Dani Minsaas had 15 points, Ashley Grancorvitz scored 13, and Ayana Bousum had 10 points and nine rebounds for Marshfield (10-1). The Tigers shot just 18 of 52 from the field, 8-for-28 on 3-pointers, and committed 19 turnovers in the loss.

Marshfield returns to action Tuesday with a nonconference game at Eau Claire Memorial.
