Neillsville holds off Auburndale girls basketball

AUBURNDALE – Neillsville ran out to a 14-point halftime lead and despite a barrage of 3-pointers from Auburndale, the Warriors were able to finish off a 52-46 victory in the championship game of the Auburndale Girls Basketball Holiday Tournament on Thursday afternoon at Auburndale High School.

Neillsville led 30-16 at halftime before the Eagles made a run in the second half, outscoring the Warriors by eight.

Auburndale made 12 3-pointers, seven from Annamarie Aue, who finished with a team-high 23 points.

Paris Opelt scored 20 points and Delaney Rochester added 11 for Neillsville, which remains undefeated at 9-0.

The Eagles, now 6-3 this season, will host Edgar in a Marawood Conference South Division matchup Tuesday.
