WAUSAU – Marshfield won 12 of the 14 matches, six by pin, and rolled to a 61-7 victory over Wausau West in a Wisconsin Valley Conference wrestling dual meet Thursday at West High School.
Jon Sternweis (106 pounds), Keenen Landwehr (132), Brett Franklin (138), Hoyt Blaskowski (145), Owen Griesbach (182) and James Clements (220) all won by pin for Marshfield, which clinched no worse than a share of the regular-season conference title as it improved to 5-0.
Caleb Dennee won by technical fall at 160, Grayden Rode (152) and Mason Seidl (195) each earned major decisions, and Jace Kelnhofer (126) and Easton Ledden (132) won by decision for the Tigers. Garrett Willuweit added a forfeit win at 170.
Marshfield will compete at the Sparta Invitational on Saturday before finishing its regular-season and Wisconsin Valley Conference schedule at Merrill on Jan. 26. The Wisconsin Valley Conference Tournament is Feb. 4 at Merrill.
