Abbotsford holds off Spencer to win WIAA Division 4 girls basketball regional quarterfinal

ABBOTSFORD – Abbotsford held Spencer to just three made baskets in the first half and were able to finish off a 44-35 win in a WIAA Division 4 girls basketball regional quarterfinal Tuesday night at Abbotsford High School.

Abbotsford (13-9) moves on to a regional semifinal at No. 4 Osseo-Fairchild (16-8) on Friday. Spencer finishes its season with a 3-21 record.

Abbotsford led 22-13 at halftime as the Rockets struggled from the field, but stayed close with five free throws.

Spencer outscored the Falcons by one point in the second half but couldn’t make up the nine-point deficit.

Autumn Davis had 13 points and Claudia Krause added six for Spencer.

Sydney Falteisek had 19 points for the Falcons.
