WAUSAU – The University of Wisconsin-Marathon County jumped out to a 20-point halftime lead and UW-Marshfield/Wood County couldn’t overcome it, losing 93-63 in a Wisconsin Collegiate Conference women’s basketball game Monday night at UW-Marathon County.

Paige Albrecht had 26 points, four assists and three steals to lead the Marauders, who fall to 3-7 overall and 3-5 in the WCC.

Marissa Draxler added 14 points and Karlee Rosentreter had 11 for UW-Marshfield.

“Marathon is undefeated for a reason. They have a very good team,” Marauders coach Lori Galetka said. “Their tough man defense took us right out of our offense and their half-court press gave us problems as well. The girls played hard and never gave up. That’s always good to see.”

The Marauders play at Madison Area Technical College at 5:30 p.m Wednesday, their final game before having nearly a month off for semester break.
