Stratford softball shuts out Marathon to grab first Marawood South win

MARATHON – Laney Pankratz scattered six hits and threw a complete-game shutout as the Stratford softball team blanked Marathon 12-0 in a Marawood Conference South Division game Tuesday at Marathon High School.

The Tigers blew the game open with a five-run fourth inning, and tacked on three runs in both the fifth and seventh to finish off the victory and improve to 7-4 overall and 1-2 in the Marawood South.

Emma Roeper and Kessa Wenzel each drove in two runs for Stratford.

The two teams will play again Thursday at Hilgemann Field in Stratford starting at 4:45 p.m.
