MERRILL – The Marshfield softball team picked up a doubleheader sweep of Merrill in Wisconsin Valley Conference action Thursday at the Merrill Area Recreation Center.
Raina Manlick smacked a two-run single in the top of the seventh inning to pull out a 6-5 win in the opener and the Tigers rolled to a 15-5 victory in the second game, improving to 7-3 overall and 4-3 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference.
Katelyn Sternweis picked up the win in both ends of the twinbill for Marshfield. She struck out four and walked four in a complete game in the opener, and threw 3 1/3 innings of relief with eight strikeouts in the second game. She also went a combined 5-for-8 with three RBI at the plate.

Lili Anaya also picked up a pair of RBI, and Madison Kraus had two hits in the Game 1 win for the Tigers.
Madison Kraus drove in five runs on a pair of hits, and Shylah Brogan had three hits and three RBI in Game 2 for Marshfield.
Marshfield will play a nonconference doubleheader at Holmen on Saturday starting at 10 a.m.
