Marshfield finishes fourth at first leg of Wisconsin Valley Conference Boys Golf Tournament

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Carter Morrison shot an even par 72 to lead Wisconsin Rapids to the team title at the first leg of the Wisconsin Valley Conference Boys Golf Tournament on Friday at the Ridges Golf Course.

Wisconsin Rapids finished with a team score of 321 on its home course to easily take first place. Wausau East was 14 shots behind at 335, with Marshfield fourth at 346.

Morrison won meet medalist honors by six shots over Wausau East’s Teddy Schlindwein.

Kyle Berres led Marshfield with an 83, finishing in a five-way tie for fifth place. Maxx Oertel had an 86, Keegan Fredrick fired an 88, Ethan Schintzler shot an 89 and Tyler Heiman had a 91 to round out the Marshfield scoring.

Marshfield competes at the Sparta Invitational on Saturday before the second leg of the seven-meet conference tournament on Monday at Wausau Country Club.
