Columbus Catholic softball blanks Gilman to stay undefeated in Cloverbelt East

GILMAN – Hailey Zimmermann struck out nine and combined with Akosua Yeboah on a one-hit shutout as the Marshfield Columbus Catholic softball team shut out Gilman 8-0 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division matchup Monday at Gilman High School.

Shelby Spata hit a home run and drove in three, and Sam Casperson had a pair of RBI for the Dons, who are now 11-2 overall and a perfect 7-0 in the Cloverbelt East.

Zimmermann allowed two walks and just one hit in five innings, with Yeboah finishing up striking out four in two innings.

Columbus Catholic hosts Owen-Withee for a conference doubleheader Tuesday at the Marshfield Fairgrounds. Game 1 starts at 4 p.m.
