PLOVER – Stevens Point scored one run in four separate innings to erase an early Marshfield lead and down the Tigers 4-2 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference baseball game Tuesday at Memorial Field.

Cole Halvorsen hit a two-run homer for Marshfield in the top of the second inning, but that would be all the Tigers would muster against Stevens Point pitcher Josh Opiola.

The Panthers pecked away at Marshfield’s lead, scoring single tallies in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth innings to grab the win and improve to 12-1 overall and 6-1 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference.

Opiola finished with six strikeouts and no walks, while allowing just five hits.

Braxton Kurth took the loss for Marshfield (7-7, 4-3 WVC), striking out three in 5 2/3 innings.

The two teams will play again Thursday at Jack Hackman Field in Marshfield beginning at 4:30 p.m.
