SUN PRAIRIE – The Marshfield volleyball team finished second at the two-day Sun Prairie East Cardinal Kickoff Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
After going a perfect 5-0 on Friday, the Tigers defeated Watertown 25-14, 25-21, in the quarterfinals and Sun Prairie East 25-13, 25-17, in the semifinals. In the championship match, Manitowoc defeated Marshfield 25-22, 25-14.
Abby Ongna had 28 kills and 27 digs, Lauren Homolka added 11 kills, setter Kailyn Kurth had 50 assists, and Ashlyn Barwick had a team-high 37 digs for Marshfield (11-1 overall).
Marshfield opens its Wisconsin Valley Conference schedule Thursday at Stevens Point.
