Marshfield volleyball rolls past Stevens Point to open WVC season

STEVENS POINT – The Marshfield volleyball team opened defense of its Wisconsin Valley Conference title with a 3-0 sweep of Stevens Point on Thursday night at Stevens Point Area Senior High.

The Tigers rolled 25-18, 25-17, 25-9, to win their WVC opener.

Lauren Homolka had 15 kills, Kailyn Kurth had 31 assists and six service aces, and Ashlyn Barwick had 12 digs to lead Marshfield in the four categories.

Grace Taylor added 10 digs, and Abby Ongna chipped in with 10 kills and eight digs in the win for the Tigers.

Marshfield will host its annual tournament on Saturday, with Abbotsford, Antigo, Ladysmith, Mondovi and Shawano providing the competition. Play begins at 10 a.m. at the Fredrick Construction Fieldhouse.
