Stratford volleyball needs five sets to knock off pesky Pittsville

STRATFORD – The Stratford volleyball team need five sets before dispatching Pittsville 3-2 in a nonconference match Thursday night at Stratford High School.

The Tigers won the first two sets 25-22, 25-11, before Pittsville rallied to tie the match by taking the next two, 25-13, 25-18. Stratford was able to stave off the victory with a 15-8 victory in the fifth and deciding set.

Kalyn Schueller continued her dominant all-around play for Stratford, providing 20 kills and 12 digs in the victory.

Emerson Roy had 28 assists, Daisy Yoder and Tria Tubbs each had eight kills, and McKenzie Novotny had 14 digs as well for Stratford.

Stratford opens its Marawood Conference South Division season at Wausau Newman Catholic on Tuesday.
