Marshfield girls tennis slips past Wisconsin Rapids to win first WVC dual meet of season

MARSHFIELD – Marshfield won three of the four singles matches and notched one doubles victory to pull out a 4-3 win over Wisconsin Rapids in the Wisconsin Valley Conference girls tennis dual meet opener for both teams on Thursday afternoon at Marshfield Middle School.

Lillian Griesbach snagged a three-set win at No. 2 singles, and Payton Koran and Ashley Grancorvitz each won in straight sets at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively, for the Tigers.

Marshfield’s No. 1 doubles team of Sophia Morrell and Ava Paape also grabbed a 6-4, 6-4, win to help the Tigers to the victory.

Marshfield hosts D.C. Everest for another WVC match at 11 a.m. Friday at Marshfield Middle School.
