Columbus Catholic soccer blanks Tri-County to stay undefeated in Central Wisconsin Conference

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic soccer team kept its undefeated Central Wisconsin Conference record intact with a 9-0 shutout of Tri-County on Monday at Griese Park.

The Dons scored three times in the first 12½ minutes to take control and rolled to the win, holding Tri-County without a shot on goal in the game.

Charlie Moore and Alex Edwards each scored twice, and Cade Jansen, Cy Becker, Ben Weiland and Seth Roewe added goals for Columbus Catholic, which improves to 10-2-2 overall and 6-0 in the CWC. Weiland’s score, coming on a penalty kick in the 45th minute, is the first of his varsity career.

Brady Zimmermann had two assists, and Alex Edwards, Moore and Mason Edwards also had assists in the win.

Columbus Catholic will play a nonconference match against Chippewa Falls McDonell/Eau Claire Regis on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Regis High School.
