Columbus Catholic soccer drops home game to La Crosse Aquinas

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield boys soccer team had its six-game winning streak snapped with a 3-1 nonconference loss to La Crosse Aquinas on Saturday afternoon at Griese Park.

Aquinas (10-6-1) took a 2-0 lead with two goals in the final 9:40 of the first half, and upped it to 3-0 with a goal in the 50th minute. Columbus Catholic managed its only goal when Mason Edwards scored off an assist from Seth Roewe in the 60th minute.

Ray Becker had nine saves in goal for the Dons (15-3-2).

Columbus Catholic, which already clinched the Central Wisconsin Conference championship, will finish its regular season this week with three matches – CWC games Monday at Wausau Newman Catholic and Thursday at Tri-County, and a nonconference match at Three Lakes/Phelps on Tuesday.
