Auburndale boys basketball slams Weyauwega-Fremont to win opener in home tournament

AUBURNDALE – The Auburndale boys basketball team earned a trip into the championship game of its home holiday tournament with a 65-46 victory over Weyauwega-Fremont on Thursday night at Auburndale High School.

The Eagles (8-1) led by 10 at halftime and outscored Weyauwega-Fremont (2-6) by nine in the second half to finish off the victory.

Senior Kaden Anderson continued his early-season tear for Auburndale with 23 points and 13 rebounds. Caden Weinfurter added 15 points and nine rebounds in the win for the Eagles.

Braylon Arndt led all scorers with 24 points for the Warhawks.

Auburndale will take on Neillsville (5-5) in the championship game of the tournament at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Augusta will play Weyauwega-Fremont in the third-place game at 6 p.m.
