Marshfield boys basketball slides past Onalaska for third-straight win

MEQUON – The Marshfield boys basketball team made 22 of 27 free throws as it was able to overcome a tough game shooting to defeat Onalaska 51-43 on Thursday at the Rick Majerus Wisconsin Basketball Yearbook Shootout at Concordia University.

Marshfield led 16-11 after a sluggish first half and was able to hang on late to win its third game in a row and improve to 8-1.

Chris Pohl was 7-for-7 at the free throw line and scored a team-high 13 points for the Tigers. Brooks Hinson added 11 points and Landon Lee had 10 in the win.

Marshfield shot just 13-for-40 from the field and was 3-for-15 from 3-point range, but was able to pull off the win with its free throw shooting.

Isaac Skemp had 15 points for Onalaska (6-3).

Marshfield wraps up play at the WBY Shootout on Friday with a game against Ashwaubenon (7-1) at 10:45 a.m.
