Spencer boys basketball tops Marion in opening game of Tomahawk Tournament

TOMAHAWK – Sam Bezlyk and Mathers McHone had double-doubles to lead the Spencer boys basketball team to a 62-56 win over Marion in a first-round game at the Tomahawk Holiday Tournament on Thursday at Tomahawk High School.

Spencer outscored Marion by six points in the second half to bust open a tie game and snap a three-game losing skid.

Bezlyk finished with 19 points and 14 rebounds, and McHone had 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Rockets (3-6).

Breckin Miller added 15 points for Spencer in the victory.

Spencer will play Montello for the tournament title on Friday.
