Marshfield boys basketball holds on to win low-scoring game at D.C. Everest

WESTON – The Marshfield boys basketball team had a rare cold shooting game, but were able to find a way to the finish line and prevailed over D.C. Everest 46-42 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference contest Friday night at D.C. Everest High School.

Brooks Hinson scored 20 points, Landon Lee added 15 and Chris Pohl scored 11 for Marshfield, which improves to 15-1 overall and 6-0 in the WVC. No other Tiger scored in the win.

The Tigers, winners of 10 games in a row, shot just 42 percent (17-for-40) from the field, but forced 14 turnovers and were able to hold off D.C. Everest (5-12, 1-6 WVC) in the second half.

Edwards and Stuedemann each had 16 points for D.C. Everest.

The win sets up a first-place matchup for the Tigers at Stevens Point (16-1, 5-1 WVC) on Monday night. The game is the second part of a girls-boys doubleheader. The girls game, which pits Marshfield and Stevens Point teams that are both undefeated in Wisconsin Valley Conference play, starts at 6 p.m. The boys follow at approximately at 7:45 p.m.
