Marshfield softball rolls past Wausau West in WVC finale

MARSHFIELD – Marshfield put up multiple runs in five of its six at-bats to blow past Wausau West 14-4 in its Wisconsin Valley Conference softball finale Thursday at the Marshfield Fairgrounds.

Megan Donahue and Jenna Jakobi each had a single, a double, and a home run, and scored three times for the Tigers. Jakobi drove in four runs, which included her three-run homer in the fourth innings, and Donahue had three RBIs.

Donahue also earned the pitching win, striking out 13 and allowing just three hits in six innings. The game ended via the 10-run rule after Marshfield scored twice in the bottom of the sixth.

Brianna Jakobi went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, and Emily Draeger, Rhiannon Corozolla and Morgan Nordbeck all had two hits for Marshfield, which improves to 20-4 and finishes its WVC season with a 10-2 record.

Marshfield hosts Medford in a nonconference game Friday at 4:30 p.m. at the Marshfield Fairgrounds.

Marshfield will host a WIAA Division 1 regional final on May 25 against the winner of Wednesday’s game between Wausau West and Eau Claire North.
