Wausau Newman Catholic outlasts Stratford volleyball in five sets

STRATFORD – Wausau Newman Catholic pulled out a tight fifth set to down Stratford 3-2 in a Marawood Conference South Division volleyball match Tuesday night at Stratford High School.

Newman Catholic won 25-23, 11-25, 25-23, 23-25, 15-13, in the hotly-contested match. Both teams are now 1-1 in the Marawood South this season.

Megan Wiese had 10 kills, Kalyn Schueller had eight kills, three service aces and nine digs, and Ally Zuleger had 21 assists and six kills for Stratford.

Hailey Chapel added six kills and 15 assists, and Jaidyn Wright had four service aces as well for the Tigers.

Stratford is off until Monday when it plays a nonconference match at Colby.
