MARSHFIELD – Abbey Besler and Nicole Karl scored unassisted goals to push the Marshfield girls hockey to an early lead, but the Tigers couldn’t hold on and lost their second straight game, falling to Point/Rapids 5-2 on Monday night at the Marshfield Youth Ice Recreation Center.

The Tigers led 2-1 after two periods, but gave up four goals in the final 17 minutes.

“We went up 2-0 and our girls got too comfortable with the lead and we let our guards down and just fell apart,” Marshfield coach Nate Sparbel said.

Makayla Lee had three goals, and Ashley Hucke and Katie Hanzlik added goals for the Red Panthers (11-9).

Marshfield (8-6-1) is back in action Friday at Medford for the first of three games in four days. The Tigers are at Hudson on Saturday and host Tomahawk on Monday.
