EAU CLAIRE – Marshfield boys hockey coach Mike Hanke said following the Tigers’ WIAA regional semifinal win over Ashland on Tuesday that his team would have its hands full with Eau Claire Memorial in the regional final.

The Old Abes proved him correct on Friday.

Memorial scored three times in the first 5 minutes and had six goals in all in the first period, and went on to defeat Marshfield 11-0 in a WIAA boys hockey regional final at Hobbs Ice Center.

Memorial (19-5-1), ranked fourth in the state by Wisconsinprephockey.net, moves on to a sectional semifinal matchup against Chippewa Falls on Tuesday. Marshfield’s season ends with an 8-17 record.

Hunter Scott and Lukas Campbell each scored twice and seven other Old Abes tallied single goals in the victory. Alexander Dahl had four assists and Brady Burzynski had three for Memorial.

Marshfield got only 17 shots on goal, all of which were saved by Memorial goalie Aaron McLaughlin.
