Marshfield’s Zuiker named to WVC boys basketball first team

Marshfield junior Cale Zuiker was one of three unanimous first-team selections on the All-Wisconsin Valley Conference Boys Basketball Team, as voted on by the conference coaches.

Zuiker joined unanimous selections Luke Heller of D.C. Everest and Nathan Piel of Wausau West on the first-team. Travis Schertz of Wausau West and Dylan Lubeck of Wisconsin Rapids were the other first-team picks.

Marshfield’s Ryan Danczak and Sully Luepke were named to the second team, and Luepke was chosen as the defensive player of the year.

Zuiker was third in the conference in scoring at 12.4 points a game and also led the WVC in 3-point shooting making 46.7 percent (14 of 30) of his long-range shots in helping the Tigers to a tie for the conference championship.

Piel led the Valley in scoring (14.8 points a game) and was second in rebounding (7.6 a game) and was named player of the year.

Danczak scored 9.3 point a game and was third in the Valley in 3-point shooting at 33.3 percent (9 of 27).

Luepke scored 6.6 points a game and led the WVC in assists at 5.1 a contest.
