MADISON – Marshfield sophomore Mitch Hertel dropped a 2-1 decision to Kyle Hinners of Milton in the Division 1 138-pound semifinals on Friday night at the 2013 WIAA State Individual Wrestling Tournament.
Hertel (31-8) moves into the consolation bracket semifinals where he will wrestle Brook Whitehead (44-6) of Wausau East on Saturday at approximately noon. The winner moves into the third-place match, while the loser will go for fifth place later Saturday afternoon.
Whitehead has defeated Hertel twice this season.
Hinners (33-6) moves into the 138-pound finals on Saturday night against Alex Blaney (41-7) of Bay Port.
