WAUSAU – Darian Molter had her second-straight four-goal game, including the game-winner in the second overtime, as the Marshfield girls soccer team defeated Wausau West 4-3 on Thursday at West High School.

The win gives Marshfield third place in the Wisconsin Valley Conference with a 7-4-1 record (10-6-1 overall). West falls to 7-7-1 and 6-6 in the Valley.

Christina Johnson scored just 3:09 into the game to put the Warriors on top early.

Marshfield finally knotted the score at 1-1 when Molter headed in a corner kick from Walker Guzowski at the 36-minute mark.

Jessy Wiskofske scored twice in the first 7 minutes of the second half to put West back on top. She scored just 52 seconds into the half, then added another at the 47:03 mark to make it 3-1.

Molter scored on a crossing pass from Julia Urban at the 54-minute mark, then added the game-tying goal with 17:02 remaining on a breakaway set up by an Ali Gruen pass.

Neither team could muster a goal in the first 10-minute overtime and Marshfield had the wind in the second OT. A scrum following a corner kick by Guzowski led to Molter’s game winner as the West goalie tried grabbing the ball outside the 6-yard box.

Megan Marotz, Courtney Thuman, Macey Staab and Guzowski, as well as the Tigers’ midfielders led the defensive charge as they held West scoreless for the final 47 minutes.
