PLAINFIELD – Auburndale’s Jake Dorshorst won the 110-meter hurdles in 17.77 seconds and took second in the 300 hurdles (43.69) as the Apaches had 12 top-four finishes Monday at the WIAA Division 3 track and field regional at Tri-County High School.

The top four in each event qualify for Thursday’s Division 3 sectional meet at Marathon High School. The top four at that meet move on to the WIAA State Track and Field Championships on June 4-5 at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

Dorshorst had two of the five top-four finishes for the Auburndale boys, which placed sixth in the team standings.

C.J. Castellano was second in the high jump (5 feet, 6 inches), David Haas was third in the 3,200 (11:10.01) and Jared Snortheim finished fourth in the 800 (2:10.76) to qualify for sectionals.

Kelly Tomfohrde and Danica Harrison each qualified in two events for the Auburndale girls, which also took sixth place.

Tomfohrde was the lone regional champion for the Apaches, winning the pole vault with a vault of 9-6. She also took third in the long jump with a leap of 15-1 ¾.

Harrison, who has been dominating long-distance races all season long, qualified in both of her events. She was second in the 3,200 (13:04.19) and fourth in the 1,600 (5:54.08).

Sandra Pumper was third in the 400 (1:05.80) and Kayla Leibl was fourth in the shot put (30-6 ¾) for the Apaches’ other individual sectional qualifiers.

The 400 relay team of Liz Breu, Emma Steines, Emma Stoflet and Tomfohrde also placed fourth (55.81).
