Donahue smacks three homers as Marshfield softball sweeps two games at Disney

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Marshfield softball team opened its 2018 season with a pair of wins at the Disney World Sports Complex on Tuesday.

Marshfield ripped Libertyville (Ill.) 12-2 in five innings and needed just three innings to subdue Riverdale Country School (N.Y.) 18-0 via a 15-run rule.

Senior Megan Donahue hit a home run in her first at-bat of the season in the opener and added another long blast later in the game to provide the Tigers with all of the offense they would need. She added a single finished with four RBIs.

Donahue also earned the pitching win, striking out two in five innings.

Emily Draeger had three hits and scored twice as well for Marshfield.

Marshfield scored 12 times in the bottom of the first inning and added six more in the second in the victory over Riverdale.

Donahue, Draeger, Kate Konrardy, Brianna Jakobi and Jenna Jakobi each had three hits for Marshfield, with Donahue smacking her third home run of the day. Brianna Jakobi and Donahue both drove in four runs.

Marshfield will take on Madison Memorial at Disney on Wednesday and finish its trip with a game against Chicago Whitney Young (Ill.) on Thursday.
