Spencer girls win again

ABBOTSFORD – The Spencer girls basketball team used an 18-0 advantage in the second quarter to propel them to a 51-14 nonconference win over winless Abbotsford on Tuesday night.

Nine different Rockets (6-3) scored, led by Tara Matter, who had 10 points. Matter also had a team-high six rebounds for Spencer, which has won three straight games.

Spencer’s second-quarter run gave them a 25-3 lead at halftime, and the Rockets poured it on with a 26-11 advantage in the second half.

Krystal Weier added nine points, and Aubrie Bissonette and Deanna Szybowicz each scored eight for Spencer.

The Rockets return to action Thursday at first-place Neillsville in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game.
