MARSHFIELD – Too many walks and too many errors led to a tough night for the Marshfield Junior Legion baseball team as it was swept in a Wisconsin Valley Legion Conference doubleheader by D.C. Everest on Friday night at Jack Hackman Field.
Marshfield committed six errors and three pitchers combined for 12 walks in a 12-2 loss in Game 1, and after taking a two-run lead into the seventh, D.C. Everest plated six runs in the final frame to complete the sweep with a 8-5 victory in the nightcap.
Tyler Kumm went 3-for-3 in Game 1 and 3-for-4 in the second game to pace the Marshfield offense.
Jakob Sadowska had three hits as well in the opener for the Junior Devils. Easton Ledden, Madden Prybylski and Sam Granger each had two hits in the second game for Marshfield.
Marshfield had eight errors and nine walks in Game 2.
Marshfield (8-16, 2-8 Wisconsin Valley Legion Conference) plays a nonconference doubleheader at Fond du Lac on Saturday.
