Top-seed Columbus boys whip Abbotsford

MARSHFIELD – Jared Boyle led five Marshfield Columbus Catholic players in double figures with 14 points to lead the Dons to a convincing 79-48 rout of Abbotsford in a WIAA Division 4 regional quarterfinal Tuesday night at Columbus Catholic High School.

The Dons (18-5) move on to a regional semifinal Thursday at home against Owen-Withee (7-16). Abbotsford ends its season with a 1-21 record.

Mike Iwanski and David Green each added 13 points, Tyler Mancl had 11 and Travis Pischel chipped in with 10 points for the Dons in a balanced effort. Dodge Langreck also kicked in eight points for Columbus.

The Dons jumped on Abbotsford early, piling up 45 first-half points on their way to a 45-21 lead at intermission.

Ryan Perez scored 13 points and Leo Braun had 12 points to lead the Falcons.
