MARSHFIELD – After a scoreless first inning, Spencer scored in each of the next four innings and went on to defeat Marshfield Columbus Catholic 12-2 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division baseball game Thursday.

The Dons managed just two hits off Spencer pitchers Zak Knox and Jesse Anderson. Knox struck out six and walked two in four innings of work, and Anderson nailed down the door in the fifth, finishing the game via the 10-run rule.

Anderson also went 3-for-4 with a double and three runs scored, and Jordan Buss was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and four RBIs for the Rockets (2-3, 2-2 Cloverbelt East).

Spencer scored five runs in the second and three in the third to offset single tallies by Columbus (0-4 overall and Cloverbelt East) and take an 8-2 lead.

The Rockets finished off the game with a pair of runs in both the fourth and fifth innings against Dons pitcher David Green, who waked 10 and allowed seven hits.

Spencer is off until next Thursday when it plays at Greenwood. The Dons are at Colby on Friday.
